This is your night to drop everything and come relax and knit with us.  Join other knitters for a few hours of knitting, sharing, laughing and enjoying our addiction together!  The shop is open for customers during Knitters Anonymous.

Jocelyn, our resident expert, will be on site demonstrating drop spindling. You must stop by and give it a spin. If you’re interested you can jump right into the class.  In the class, students will be introduced to the basic principles of making yarn from fiber using a drop spindle.  We’ll talk about what it takes to turn a bunch of fiber into yarn that you can use for knitting (or crocheting or weaving!).  We’ll discuss how to manage the yarn that you have spun on your spindle, and how to ply it to make it a stronger and more stable yarn.  We’ll also talk about skeining and washing finished yarn so that you can use it for your knitting projects, and we’ll cover the tools that make all of these jobs easier, and how to improvise those tools if you don’t have them.

You know that the first Wednesdays of the month are knit nights, but did you know that you can sit and spin, too?  On February 1, March 7, and April 4, our spinning teacher will be sitting and spinning at knit night.  Come and join us, and learn just how much fun it can be to spin out in good company!

We have all seen the instructions “bind off loosely”! But how do you do that? Learn three bind offs that you will use time and time again: the sensational stretchy BO, Zimmerman’s needle BO, and the reliable SSK BO. Homework required.

Learn how to thrum using yarn and roving (fiber) to make these toasty warm slippers.  Knitted on size 10 needles, they make up quickly. Spinners, here is a great project to use with your stash fiber! All levels of knitting skills are invited.  Don’t be afraid to move beyond the scarf, shawl or purse!!  Come to this 4-part workshop and be guided from start to finish.  You can knit your first sweater, get some help with a current sweater or simply come and get motivated, learn some new tips and tricks that will make your sweater fabulous!!!  Many demonstrations of sweater-knitting techniques, including gauge, swatching and sizing, various cast-ons and bind-offs, invisible seaming (mattress stitch), picking up neckline stitches, and more. Lots of homework.
