Seaming 101

There’ll will be no need to shudder at the thought of seaming your hand knits. This class will give you the basics and the confidence to seam on your own. We will practice techniques such as the mattress-stitch, how to seam bound-off edges, knitting the 3-needle bind-off, and more along with tips on how to make seaming easier. Homework is required.

  • Swatches. Using worsted or aran weight, light-color yarn, make 6 swatches each approximately 3" x 3". For each swatch, CO 16 sts. End each swatch after working a purl row.

  • Work 2 swatches as follows: Row 1: Knit. Row 2: K4, P12. Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until you have 3". Bind off.

  • Work 2 swatches in St st. Bind off sts.

  • Work 2 swatches in St st. and leave on needles; cut tail about 3x the width of your swatch.

Class Policy: Class fees must be paid in advance to reserve your space. Class materials must be purchased at the shop. Teachers reserve the right to cancel a class with less than three sign-ups with at least 24 hours notice.

Cancellation Policy: We require at least 24 hours notice for the cancellation of a class or private lesson. We cannot refund, transfer, or provide store credit for class fees with less than 24 hours notice.
