Snowy the Snowman Hat with Guest Instructor Heather Walpole

Knitting with multiple colors opens up a whole world of adding cute touches to your projects. Knit your own snow globe with the Snowy the Snowman hat. Learn to work multiple colors in the same row while keeping your tension easy. Once we master that we'll learn to knit bobbles that look like falling snow. Homework is required.

  • Measurements:
  • 15 (17, 19., 21.)” around; 8 (9, 9, 9)” high

  • Materials:
  • The pattern will be provided on the first day of class

  • Ewe Ewe Yarns, Ewe So Sporty, 145 yards [Color A: 1 (1, 1, 2) skeins (75 Sky Blue), Color B: 1 skein (90 Vanilla), Color C: 1 skein (99 Black Licorice)]

  • US 5 (3.5 mm) 16” circular needles
  • US 6 (4 mm) 16” circular needles

  • US 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles

  • Stitch marker

  • Darning yarn needle

  • 3” pom pom maker

  • Homework:
  • Worked flat
  • With smaller circular needles and Color A, cast on 72 (84, 96, 108) sts, place marker and join in the round being careful not to twist cast on sts.

  • Ribbing:

  • Round 1: *K2, p2; rep from * around.

  • Work as for Ribbing Round 1 until piece measures 3 (4, 4, 4)” from cast on edge.
