Guest Instructor Jennifer Miller, the talented dyer behind Theodora's Pearls, is coming to the shop to teach some amazing classes! Brioche stitch is a beautiful, ancient knitting stitch with loads of variation. With this technique, alternate stitches are slipped every other row, creating a very soft, stretchy, thick, fluffy fabric. Classic brioche stitch is reversible, with both a lovely right side and wrong side. It can be done in 1 color, 2 colors, or 3 or more colors, and has loads of variations and creative possibilities! (check out her Beginning Lace Class)
In this class participants will make a cowl while learning the basics of brioche stitch in the round, beginning with cast-on and setup for 2 color brioche. This class will provide an intro to brioche terminology and stitch definition, how to read your brioche knitting, and basics of brioche increase and decrease. The Instructor will also show examples of brioche variations and provide additional pattern suggestions. The pattern and additional handouts will be provided. Homework Required.
Using a US 8 (5 mm) 16” circular needle, please cast on 90 stitches and join to work in the round. Place a marker at end of round and change to US 6 (4 mm) 16" circular needle and work 4 rounds in garter stitch (knit every row).
