Guest Instructor Jennifer Miller, the talented dyer behind Theodora's Pearls, is coming to the shop to teach some amazing classes! You'll absolutely love this fun beginning class for knitters who are itching to make a lace shawl! Using the Ashton Shawlette pattern by Dee O’Keefe, we’ll get started on an easy-to-follow lace pattern. This content-rich class will include information on:

  • Basic shawl construction and geometry
  • Beginning a shawl using the garter tab method
  • Reading a lace chart, including symbols, tips, and tricks
  • Easy and stretchy bindoff methods
  • Creative ideas for shawl colorwork
  • Working with handpainted and tonal yarns to show them off beautifully

Jennifer shares all the tips and techniques on lace knitting that she has developed over the years. At the end of this class, you’ll feel confident that you can create this lovely shawl with a minimum of assistance! The pattern will be provided along with handouts and annotations.   • Recommended Yarn:
  • Any fingering weight yarn from Theodora's Pearls

  • 1-2 skeins fingering weight yarn (at least 375 yards)
  • US 4 (3 mm) 24" or 32" circular needles
  • US 5 (3.5 mm) 24" or 32" circular needles
  • US 4 (3 mm) double pointed or straight needles
  • US 5 (3.5 mm) double pointed or straight needles
  • Stitch markers & your basic tool kit
  • Skill Level:
